ALL HANDS PRIVATE HOUSE

At 09:29hrs FDNY Bronx phone alarm sounded for the 900 block of East 224th Street reporting fire in a building. FDNY Engine 63 and FDNY Battalion 15 responded, while en-route the Bronx notified incoming companies that they were now receiving multiple calls reporting fire in a private house with possible people trapped. Engine 63 assisted the first due engine in getting the first line in place. Companies made quick work of the fire that consumed most of the second floor of a private house. Three lines stretched, two line operated for heavy fire on the second floor of a 30X60 private house and extension to a house on the exposure 4 side. All searches came back negative with the exception of 4 occupants that were being treated for smoke inhalation. The Chief of the 15 Battalion placed the fire under control and turned the scene over to the fire marshals.

After an already busy night tour the members of Engine 63 received a phone alarm from FDNY Bronx Comm reporting a fire in a private dwelling. Engine 63 and  Battalion 15 quickly turned out. Companies turned onto Richardson Ave and noticed heavy smoke coming from a private dwelling. Engine 63 transmitted the 10-75 (working fire). Battalion 15 arrived shortly after and transmitted the All-Hands for a basement fire. A total of two hand-lines were stretched with no extension to the upper floors. All searches came back negative and Battalion 15 placed the fire under control

FIRST DUE ALL HANDS

FDNY Bronx Box 3886 was transmitted for the 4000blk of White Plains Road reporting a fire in a store. While responding to the box, E-63 was advised by “DA Bronx” that they were receiving numerous phone calls for fire at that address. Engine 63 arrived just seconds later and transmitted the 10-75 (working fire). Chief Blatus of the 15 Battalion arrived and gave the All- Hands with an extra engine and truck due to the type of construction. Engine 63 quickly stretched a 2 1/2" hand-line and aggressively attacked the fire. Trucks opened up and checked for extension. A total of two hand-lines were stretched with no extension to the upper floors. The fire was placed under control by Battalion 15.

At 15:11 hrs FDNY Bronx Box 3656 was transmitted for a fire in a multiple dwelling. Engine 38 arrived 1st due to find heavy fire out 2 windows. Engine 63 arrived 3rd due and stretched a second line to the fire floor. Battalion 15 arrived and transmitted the All-Hands with an additional Truck Company. There were a total of 2 lines stretched to the fire building with no extension to any other floors. Battalion 15 placed the fire under control.


 
   
   
REPORTED EXPLOSION

FDNY Bronx Box 3841 was transmitted for a reported explosion in the area of Pittman Ave and Bussing Ave. Engine 63 and Battalion 15 arrived to find a male with a sever head wound. Members of E-63 secured the scene and attended to the patient. The head trauma came when the patient they were treating attempted to cut an O2 cylinder with a partner saw causing the cylinder to explode and a 5 in piece to strike him in the head. EMS arrived and transported the patient with a 5in piece of steal impaled in his head to Jacoby Hospital.

At 16:56 hrs FDNY Bronx phone alarm box 3891 sounded for the 3800 blk of Monticello Ave reporting fire in a private house. Engine 63 and Battalion 15 responded and arrived to find fire showing from a 1st floor window on the 3 side. Engine 63's crew stretched a 1 3/4" line to the seat of the fire while the trucks opened up and searched. The fire was quickly extinguished and all searches came back negative. Two lines stretched and operating for fire on the first floor of a 2 story 30X60 private house. The fire was placed under control by the Chief of the 15 Battalion.


 
1ST DUE "2ND ALARM"

At 21:55hrs Bronx phone alarm box 3862 sounded for the 600 blk of Nereid Ave reporting a multiple dwelling on fire. As Engine 63, Ladder 39 and Battalion 15 were just pulling out quarters,   the Bronx notified them that they were receiving multiple calls reporting fire on the 3rd floor of a multiple dwelling. When the companies turned the corner onto Nereid Ave , a heavy smoke condition was emanating from numerous windows on the 3rd floor.  A 10-75 was transmitted for a working fire quickly followed by an all-hands with a request for an additional engine and truck by Battalion Commander Keith Cartica.  Within seconds after the first arriving units began initiating their aggressive attack, fire blew out from 3 windows on the 3rd floor temporarily trapping escaping civilians on the exposure 2 fire escape.  These turn of events and the concern that the fire had extended into the top floor resulted in a second alarm being transmitted by the incident commander (Chief Cartica). A total of 2 hand-lines were stretched for the fire, primary and secondary searches of all floors were negative. The fire was contained to the original fire apartment with no extension to the upper floors. Battalion Commander, Chief Cartica placed the fire under control.

At 07:05hrs Bronx phone alarm box 3803 sounded for the 800 blk of East 228th Street reporting a fire in a house. While Engine 63 and Battalion 15 were turning out the Bronx called to notify them that they were receiving multiple calls reporting the same. Companies arrived to find smoke showing from a 2 story private house.  Engine 63's crew stretched a 1 3/4 line to the first floor, while the 15 Battalion transmitted the 10-75. The fire was quickly extinguished while the trucks opened up and searched. Two lines stretched, 1 line operated for fire on the 1st floor of a 2 story 25X50 private house. The fire was suspicious in nature and turned over to the fire marshals. All searches came back negative and the fire was placed under control by the Chief of the 15 Battalion.


 
   
   
FIRST DUE ALL-HANDS

Bronx Box 3676 sounded for a fire in a private dwelling. Engine 63 responded 1st due along with the L-39 and Battalion 15. Engine 63 arrived to find heavy smoke from the basement and 1st floor. A 10-75 (working fire) was transmitted, Battalion 15 arrived seconds later and transmitted the All-Hands. Ladder 51 confirmed a fire in the basement with possible extension to the 1st floor. Engine 63 stretched a hand line through the interior to start there attack of the fire. E-62 stretched an additional line to back up E-63. A total of 2 hand-lines were stretched, all searches were negative and the fire was placed under control by Battalion 15. This was the 3rd All-Hands Fire for Engine 63 in 24hrs.
