At 14:55 hours, FDNY Bronx box 3849 sounded for the 4000 block of Barnes Ave reporting fire from the roof of a private dwelling. E-63 and L-39 responded first due to the box which was only two blocks from the fire house. Upon arrival E-63 transmitted a 10-75 (working fire) as smoke was visible coming from the top floor and roof. L-39 quickly gained entry and found the fire on the top floor with extension to the attic. E-63 made their way to the top floor of the fire building and quickly knocked down the fire. A second line was stretched by the third due engine, and the truck continued with searches. All searches came back negative, and the fire was placed under control by the chief of the 15 Battalion.
